Since Qin Dynasty, the construction of the Great Wall has been a major project. According to records, the emperor used to build the Great Wall nearly 1 million labor force, the country's population of 1 / 20! There was no machinery, the blocks can only be transported by human labor.
There’s a story describing about this history called Meng Jiangnu cry of the Great Wall. There was once a beauriful young woman named Meng Jiang. Her husband was caught to built the Great Wall only few days after they got married. It was a hard time for Meng Jiangnu after her husband was taken away - she missed her husband and cried nearly every day. Several months later, she packed her luggage and decided to set off to look for her huaband. Upon her arrival, she was eager to ask about her husband. Bad news came to her, however, that her husband had already died of exhaustion and was buried into the Great Wall! Meng Jiang could not help crying. She sat on the ground and cried and cried. Suddenly with a tremendous noise, a 400 kilometer-long section of the Great Wall collapsed over her bitter wail. We do not know the authenticity of the story, but we can tell how difficulty to build such a wall in the ancient days. Today the Great Wall has become a place of interest not only to the Chinese but to people from all over the world. A Chinese saying goes like this," You are not a true man until you get to the Great Wall Tour."
